Life has been an absolute whirlwind the last couple of weeks. I woke up today and realized that it’s already Saturday, and I don’t have a recipe to share with you. I’ve got plenty of ideas — probably too many ideas! — but I haven’t taken the time to write, test and shoot a new recipe for you this week. I’m so sorry, but I hope you’ll forgive me. Cuz…
I got married!
\\ Happy dance \\
One week ago today, Kristian and I said our vows in a beautiful vineyard in northern Michigan surrounded by family. As a little girl, I hadn’t always dreamed of having a wedding. I never thought about what my dress would look like, what type of flowers I’d carry, or what food I wanted on the dinner menu. And I think that worked in my favor, because when we were planning, there were no expectations or preconceived notions about what it was supposed to be or look like. Everything just fell into place.
I didn’t have a ton of details to obsess over — strategically so — which was also very lucky because once Saturday, June 13 popped up on the 10-day forecast, my browser’s refresh button and I became the best of friends. Sunshine, clouds, 50% chance of rain, 0% chance, 100% chance of rain-with-a-little-red-severe-weather-exclamation-point… !!! Talk about an emotional roller coaster for my type A, gotta be in control of everything personality. Poor K — and my mom! — had to deal with my constant updates via text.
But in the end, everything turned out perfectly. It rained around us, but not on us, and even if it had — we wouldn’t have cared. I got to marry my best friend.
And tomorrow we get to celebrate — and, I get to wear my dress again! — with all of our family and friends at a brunch reception / picnic / all around good time here in Grand Rapids. Bring on the champagne!
In lieu of a recipe today, I thought I’d share with you some photos from last weekend, taken by the wonderful photographer, and our good friend, Drew Davis.
