Finishing up Week 2 of our April cleanse! We’ve been eating better: we’ve shared some delicious recipes for breakfast, snacks, and juices so far. Feeling lighter and more energetic already!
Exercise also plays a vital role in any healthy lifestyle. And while most exercise help our bodies’ cleansing systems to function properly, yoga focuses on stretching and compressing every part of the body, making it well-suited to keeping cleansing systems functioning smoothly. Yoga also promotes better posture, improving the body’s ability to breathe properly. Proper breathing helps clear carbon dioxide from the lungs and stimulates the digestive organs.
Three types of yoga poses aid the most in the cleansing process:
- Twists – squeeze the abdominals and organs, stimulating digestion and wringing out toxins.
- Inversions – reverse blood flow, aiding in lymphatic circulation.
- Legs-up-the-wall – encourage circulation of blood from toes to legs and stimulate digestion.
We hope that this series of eight cleansing yoga poses will help detoxify your body, aid in digestion, and leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. All of them (with the exception of the Shoulder Stand) are perfect for anyone, at any level of yoga experience. Enjoy!
